I will try it. I have long mulled this over. Whether I should add to the multitude of blogs out there. Well, here I am. I will bloviate about economics, academia and about things in Germany that might sound crazy to Americans, and things in the U.S. that are crazy to Germans (Die spinnen, die Amis!). I will spout off mostly in English, sometimes in German. I hope I will be as politically incorrect as possible. For the time being, I will not be 2.0, no comments allowed (I know Kollege Kantoos won’t like that).
One word about the blog name: I chose it, mainly because it rhymes with Grumpy Economist, and grumpy I am. But that one was taken by one of my favorite econ bloggers, John Cochrane. I am grumpy, uhm lumpy about that. Well, and then I have written papers on lumpy adjustment. The German “Lumpenökonom” is not a translation of the English name, appearance notwithstanding. “Lump” in German means hoodlum. And a hoodlum I want to be!
